Research Interests
What is the most appropriate way to model trait evolution, and which phylogenetic trees should be used? Biological processes such as incomplete lineage sorting and hybridization can generate discordance among gene tree topologies, often producing histories that differ from the underlying species tree. Assuming a single tree is correct, or failing to account for this discordance, can lead to inaccurate evolutionary inferences. My research focuses on developing and applying methods that explicitly account for these complexities.
